Canoe Share Program
The Canoe Share Program allows our members to use the club on their own schedule. You decide, from practicing your strokes or simply spend time paddling the Mersey River to enjoy time outdoors. Members are welcome to borrow the equipment made available under this program. Paddling experience required. See rules below.
Policy
The club website (miltoncanoecameraclub.ca) will describe the club rules and expectations and where possible notices will be posted. Member sign-in is a requirement and will have this reference material available
Records
Sign-in sheets will be mandatory for everyone who uses the facility, which includes the grounds. Date, name, time will be recorded. The contact information of every member is maintained with the club Treasurer and Secretary and is kept up-to-date on a regular basis and will be made available if public health contact tracing is required.
- The health and safety of everyone using our facility is our #1 priority. The Canoe Share Program is offered to members on a ‘Use at Own Risk’ basis. Previous paddling experience required.
- Only paid members are authorized to use the dock and participate in the canoe share program.
- The MCCC reserves the right to revoke membership and/or ban a member from participating in the Canoe Share Program for failing to meet policy and program rules.
- The canoe share equipment and use of the dock is from sunrise to sunset.
- No alcohol or drugs are permitted anywhere on facility property.
- The Canoe Share Program is referenced in the COVID-19 protocol however, the rules stated here are more encompassing.
- Members are encouraged to maintain a 2-hour paddle limit contained between the Bridge St. bridge to Bristol Ave. Liverpool Bay Town bridge.
- All canoes and equipment are to be returned by sunset on the same day that the canoe is signed out.
- The sign-in/out form is mandatory and is stored in the Canoe Share program tote.
- The review of all protocols that are stored in the tote is assumed when the sign in/out forms are completed.
- Members are asked to provide their own hand sanitizer. Best endeavours will be made to make sanitizer available.
- Member will retrieve the canoe share assigned canoe, PFD, paddle, throw bag and bailer.
- Member will launch from the dock or shore.
- Members will return the shared canoe and equipment to the outside share storage area.
- Canoe Share is not available when other events are being held on the property (such as Paddling Programs).
- Members have right of access to the dock for launch & egress with their own equipment.
- Canada Transport regulations must be followed.
- All paddlers and club equipment must be back and docking by sunset.
- All non-club equipment and garbage must be removed from the property when the member leaves the premises.
