Parking Lot
We will endeavour to have an assigned individual to monitor this area to be sure that individuals are adhering to physical distancing rules. The overall sequence of steps promotes physical distancing. Individuals or bubbled members may proceed together. Communications will set expectations for members to self regulate once they become accustomed to the club series of COVID-19 steps.
Clubhouse Basement
Personal Flotation Equipment (PFD), paddles, throw bags and bailers will be distributed by number and assigned to the individual for the duration of the season. A record of assignment numbers will be maintained. Individual’s equipment will be separately hung and stored in the club boathouse for the season. Canoes will continue to be stored in the club house basement.
Canoes will be distributed by unique number or craft name and assigned to the individual. The 2-meter distance requirement is met while seated in the canoe. The assignment will consider bubbled members and logical groups.
Each canoe team will be called one at a time to enter the basement storage area and retrieve their canoe and all other equipment. They will be directed to an available designated outdoor ground area.

During group events the facility grounds will be clearly marked with numbers or pylons that meet the physical distancing requirement. The intent is that member team/bubbles will move directly to their assigned area and maintain order for launching.
Members will put on life jackets and perform the canoe safety check while in this designated area. Teams will be given required instructions while in this area.
Separate from canoe preparation group canoe dry land instruction for on/off water canoe manoeuvres and safety will be given outdoors. Members will observe the 2-meter distancing requirement and COVID-19 protocol will be reiterated. Megaphone (if required) will be used on land when members are physically distanced.

Dock (Water Entrance & Egress)
Teams will be directed one-by-one to the dock for canoe entrance & launch. At this time, they will be reminded of the distancing requirement while out on the water and how returning to the dock is managed team by team. The dock safely facilitates the physical distance requirement. The team launch will be overseen by an instructor.
Dock railings were considered as low risk due to previous member hand sanitization. Monitoring will be done and cleaning/sanitization of the dock will be adjusted in the future as needed.
An instructor, safety boat member or assigned individual will monitor the return to dock and the proper flow of teams to their designated outdoor area to remove personal and canoe equipment. The club boat house has pre-numbered hooks for each individual to hang and store their PFD, bailer, throw bag and paddles for the season.
No alcohol or drugs are permitted anywhere on facility property.
