Once again we would like to thank Michelin for their support in our local communities. We are so grateful for the generous contribution of $500. As you know, our club exists to contribute to the quality of life of our communities by creating a stimulating learning environment through the enjoyment and appreciation for the sport of canoeing and the art of photography. Michelin employee and Milton Canoe and Camera Club Member Craig Doggett please accept our sincere gratitude for this initiative that Michelin supports. From left to right. On Wednesday March 10th at 7:00PM UK Wildlife photographer Malcolm Hupman has once again graciously offered his time to provide the Milton Canoe and Camera Club members another photographic wildlife presentation.
“Where I Photograph Wildlife in the UK” is a 90-minute presentation (short break at half-way point) of wildlife photographs showing where and when they were taken, the equipment used and the camera settings. It contains 134 different species of Birds, Mammals, Butterflies and Dragonflies at 37 different sites with maps and details. We are excited to now open up this presentation to everyone! Join us for this free presentation to listen and learn from Malcolm’s experience photographing wildlife. It’s Malcolm’s story telling style that makes his presentations unique and memorable. For non-member registration, send an email to miltoncanoecameraclub@gmail.com and we will send you the ZOOM connection details. Our Chair Dave Lewis groomed a 2nd ski trail at Emera Place Walking Trail this morning. It's a nice combo of rolling hill and flat terrain.
Dig those old skis out of the basement and go get some Vitamin D! Click here for the link to the trail. We have some history here as you can see from the photo thanks to Cheryl and Chris Mansfield!
The Milton Canoe Camera Club was formed in 1949 and became a Nonprofit organization in 1957. So yes, I would say we have plenty of history in our community! If you have any old photos from the past please pass them on to us and we’ll post them right here for all to see and enjoy. If you know who is in the photo that you are providing please add that information in your email message to us. Our email address is... miltoncanoecameraclub@gmail.com In this photo if you count the figures from left to right, #3 is Victor Kempton (man in white shirt), #5 (the man in the middle, far back) is Mickey Hartlen, (Cheryl’s father), #6, (next to Mickey on the right side), is probably Harold Arthur, (Chris’s uncle), and #8, (far right, in the foreground), Russie Oliver, (father of Becky Williams). (We're unsure of the rest, as of now). Owner of the original photo is unknown, and probably deceased, local historian Tim McDonald made a copy of it years ago when he was writing his first book of local history. By becoming a member not only will you have the opportunity to share your passion for photography, you will also enjoy the benefits of paddling from our facility which offers our members a convenient, cost effective means to either launch your own canoe or use club equipment for paddling.
Here’s a recap of what our camera members where up to this year... The camera program runs year round with meetups every three weeks. Members are provided with two photo challenges to complete within the three weeks. At the next meetup each image is projected on a screen to discuss. We want to celebrate 2020 by showing you a small sample of photo challenges that were submitted over the course of the year. We hope you enjoy this years video. |
