With new camera members on board it is a good time for an update that on Thursday October 8th our photo challenge is different. Instead of uploading digital images, you’ll be printing your images and displaying them at the clubhouse for public viewing. We will setup our displays on Thursday October 8th, for public viewing on the evening of Friday October 9th.
The details of the Social Cause photo challenge is below. Please read the challenge and at our next meetup on August 27th Taryn and I will discuss it further and answer any questions that you may have. We require a commitment from members as we are planning to advertise the event and have the community join us and select their best Social Cause photo series so we can award a couple of prizes. If we don’t have enough interest we will continue with our regular photo challenges as usual. If we do have enough interest we will discuss presentation, printing techniques and any other Social Cause aspects at our regular meetup date, Thursday September 17th. Photo Challenge 22 Social Cause: One way to effect social change is with photography. Regardless of the nature of the cause, photography is very powerful in creating awareness. It can create a discussion that can raise the popularity of an issue and eventually effect social change, or at least create the driving force required to effect change. Your photographs can act as a witness to a social cause – a documentary style of shooting that brings evidence to a cause such as littering, ocean trash or a public health issue. Whether it’s saving our local forests from clear cutting, the salmon farm expansion, rebuilding our community, COVID 19, buying local or anything else that’s important to you. Select your best four images that you will print, mount and display no smaller than 11 × 14 inches in size. Title and/or write a short description of your social cause. To help with this challenge we will discuss printing techniques on our regular meetup day (Thursday September 17th). These techniques will get your images print ready. We will also discuss different mounting options. Prizes will be awarded.
