Hello camera club members!
Taryn and I had a chat today and we would like to make one small change regarding the photo challenges. First off we wanted to say how happy we are that you are submitting photos and coming to our meetings regularly to see everyone’s work and help with some constructive criticism and positive feedback so we all improve our skill! Our hope in offering photo challenges is for all of us to improve our photography skill. Through some of the techniques we have discussed such as rule of thirds, camera motion, using black and white, framing, etc, and through the inspiration we gain from each other’s perspectives in creative images, our hope is that we are all honing our skills and thinking of new ways to express ourselves in our photos. Therefore, we would like to encourage you to submit new photos for the challenges instead of finding old ones that fit the theme. This is not meant to discourage you! Please realize we often learn from our mistakes. We can also be inspired through all our efforts. A current photo shoot you may feel is not up to the task can often lead to learning opportunities. So if you are trying something new and it doesn’t work out – show us, and ask the group for help! If you hardly have any time, take your camera to work or class, take 5 minutes on the way to and fro in your daily lives. We hope to encourage you to be creative when you can, and it does not have to be a perfect result! Maybe you can’t time your photo shoot for nice lighting, but you can do rule of thirds. Just do your best and have fun with it! Thanks again for being part of the camera club – it’s a really great group, and it’s wonderful for all of us to be inspired by everyone’s perspective on the world.
